# Quickstart: ChatGPT + MCP

> Add Unfurl as a custom connector in ChatGPT, then publish HTML from the conversation.

<Info>ChatGPT uses a **custom connector** (paste the MCP URL). `npx unfurl-install` is for coding agents, not ChatGPT.com.</Info>

## Connect

1. Copy `https://mcp.unfurl.pub/mcp`.
2. In **ChatGPT**, open **Settings → Apps & Connectors** (or **Connectors** in the sidebar).
3. Add a custom connector and paste the MCP URL as the server endpoint.
4. On first use, sign in to Unfurl and click **Allow**.

Optional: create a dashboard [API key](https://unfurl.pub/dashboard/api-keys) for REST or for clients that send `Authorization: Bearer oodoc_…`. You do not paste that key on the Unfurl authorize page.

## Publish

> "Turn this outline into a one-page HTML brief and publish it to Unfurl"

ChatGPT should call `publish_document` and return `share_url`.
