# Set up MCP in ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects as a **custom connector**. Paste the MCP URL — you do not run `npx` inside ChatGPT.com.

  <Step title="Add a connector">
    In ChatGPT, open **Settings → Apps & Connectors** (or **Connectors** in the sidebar) and add a custom connector. Paste the URL as the server endpoint.

  <Step title="Allow Unfurl">
    On first use, sign in to Unfurl and click **Allow**. OAuth provisions a managed connector key. A dashboard API key is optional (REST, or clients that send Bearer headers).

  <Step title="Verify">
    Ask ChatGPT to publish a short HTML page to Unfurl. Confirm you get a `share_url`.
