What your recipient sees

When you share a Unfurl link, your recipient gets a clean, instant reading experience. No downloads. No “open in Word.” No security warnings. Your document lives at a permanent URL like: unfurl.pub/d/abc123 This path does not change when you update the document. On Pro, you can also claim a custom host such as yourdoc.unfurl.pub for the same live link.

The experience

When your recipient clicks the link, they see:
  • Your document rendered in their browser (sandboxed)
  • Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • No login required to view (unless you set a passphrase)
  • No app to install
If Fullscreen mode is on (Pro), they see only your HTML — no Unfurl chrome. If Viewer feedback is on, they can click elements or select text to leave a comment. Unclaimed homepage publishes show a short prompt to create an account and keep the page.

Shared document as the recipient sees it

Password and expiry

On Pro, you can require a passphrase before the HTML loads. You can also set the link to expire (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or a custom date). Expired links do not show the document. Passphrase-protected pages hide title and brand from link unfurls (Open Graph) so a Slack or email preview does not leak the name.

What they DON’T see

  • Your drafts (only published versions are visible)
  • Your version history (that’s for your eyes only)
  • Your other documents (each link is independent)

Branding

On the Free plan, shared documents include subtle Unfurl branding. On Pro, you can add your logo, brand name, and tagline, and hide default Unfurl chrome (including fullscreen).
