Updating a document

Every publish or edit creates a new version on the same document. Your public URL does not change.

From the dashboard

1

Open the document

In the dashboard, select the document you want to update.
2

Upload new HTML or visual edit

Drag a fresh .html file onto the drop zone, or use Visual edit (Pro) to change the page in place. Either path appends a version.
3

Optional note

Add a version note when the UI offers it — short strings help you scan history later.

From MCP (edit_document vs publish_document)

Edit loop: get_document (include_html: true) once → edit_document with unique old_string / new_string pairs. Full replace:
Omit document_id only when you intend to create a new document with a new link. Find an existing doc with find_document if you do not have the ID. Recipients refresh the same URL and see the latest published version. You do not re-send a different address.
Version notes: Use the present tense and a noun phrase — “Add ROI section”, “Legal wording v2”. Avoid empty notes; future you will thank you.
